Tambuwal congratulates Atiku, says no alternative to defeating Buhari in 2019

ABUJA — Governor of Nigeria’s Sokoto and one of the contestants in the just concluded primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, Aminu Tambuwal, has congratulated the winner of the primary, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, saying that defeating incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress at the 2019 race is a national imperative.

In a letter dated 8th October 2018, and signed by Tambuwal himself, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives said Atiku’s emergence in a transparent process shows that PDP is now a reformed party and that this is evidence of the party’s strong resolve to bring about the needed turnaround in the fortunes of the country.

“On behalf of my humble self, my family, and millions of my supporters from across the length and breadth of the country, I heartily rejoice with and congratulate Your Excellency on your emergence as the standard flag bearer of our great political party, the PDP at the just concluded National Convention held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.emergence in a transparent process is a testament to the fact that the PDP is now a reformed party and has sent a strong signal about our resolve to bring about the desired national transformation needed to turn around the fortunes

“Your emergence in a transparent process is a testament to the fact that the PDP is now a reformed party and has sent a strong signal about our resolve to bring about the desired national transformation needed to turn around the fortunes of our beloved nation Nigeria,” Tambuwal said.

Tambuwal told the PDP flag bearer for the 2019 presidential election that the task ahead is to ensure victory at the polls. He said the party must be united in this regard, avoiding divisions and distractions. He added that he has committed himself to the process and will do his part to ensure that Buhari and the APC are booted out next year.

“The task at hand, going forward, is to ensure victory at the polls in order to save our fatherland from the current regime of annihilation bestriding it.

“This calls for unity of purpose that admits of no division, no distractions and no internal wrangling. I commit myself to this task and urge all members of our great party to roll up their sleeves and set to work as members of one united family,” he said.
