Benue NUJ lauds Alia over approach to security threats

Benue State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has lauded Governor Hyacinth Alia over his proactive approaches to security threats in the state.

In a communique at the end of its congress signed by the Chairman Mr. Samuel Tyav, Secretary, Oryiman Gwaza and Doris Yuwa as member, said the NUJ appreciated him for all he has been doing to maintain peace and development in the state.

According to the communique, the congress also urged the Governor to remain focused in the provision of people oriented projects.

The congress also appealed to political class and other spirited individuals in the state to wade into the security threats in various parts of the state that are capable of retarding the development of the state.

The communique also called on all practising journalists in the state to remain apolitical to avoid clashes but concentrate on meaningful reportage of developmental issues that would move the state forward.

The congress also resolved the state council elections be conducted on November 16, 2024 and adopted the 2021 attendance register and to update it to conduct to forthcoming elections.

It also approved the cost for sale of forms as one hundred thousand naira for chairmanship position, seventy thousand naira for secretary, sixty thousand naira for treasurer while fifty thousand naira goes for other positions.
