Tor Tiv Orcivirigh, Professor James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse has tasked the University of Benin Alumni Association, Benue State branch to play its role as ambassadors of the university by rendering moral, spiritual and physical support to the university.
Tor Tiv and Chancellor of the University who stated this when he received members of the University of Benin Alumni Association Benue State Branch in his palace in Gboko, described them as heroes and shining stars who serve as a bulwark of any university.
A statement by the Media Assistant to Tor Tiv on Media and ICT, said Orcivirigh Ayatse also described the University of Benin as one of the best universities in Africa with a tremendous management team that produces quality graduates.
The paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, appealed to the Benue State branch of the Alumni to explore all possible means to contribute significantly to sustain the standard the university is known for.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Alumni, Mr Iorhii Dooga lauded the appointment of the Tor Tiv as the Chancellor of University of Benin which he stressed was befitting based on his impeccable credentials as university administration and governance.
According to him, since graduation from the university the members have distinguished themselves in various fields of endeavor pointing out the hero of the University of Benin Prof Emmanuel Hemen Agba FNIP, a former Vice Chancellor of University of Mkar and professor of Physics from Benue State University Makurdi is a member of the Benue State Branch of the Alumni.
He pledged that members of the Alumni would continue to live up to the motto of the University of Benin which is knowledge for Service as they solicit for support for the excellent performance of the Tor Tiv as the Chancellor of their Alma mater.
