Fans furious as UEFA ‘technical error’ prevents them from securing Euro 2024 tickets

Football fans have been left furious after a ‘technical error’ has prevented many from buying tickets for Euro 2024 via UEFA’s ticket portal.

The portal, which opened on Thursday morning, works by entering fans into a virtual waiting room queue before they are then transferred to the main page to purchase tickets.

However, the portal has been hit with a number of technical issues, with fans complaining that they cannot purchase tickets at all.

Many are either getting stuck in the virtual waiting room, or the webpage is presenting a technical error that forces fans to refresh the webpage unsuccessfully.

For others, the page is stating that it needs to be reloaded, in order for the browser to allow cookies – despite that option already being enabled.

And some fans have posted to social media to vent out their anger at the process.

One wrote: “How is anyone supposed to get tickets for this tournament, once again the Portal has broken before it opened and just shows a ‘technical error’ every time you reach the queue.”

A second added: “The Euro 2024 ticket portal is a joke. Way to make football accessible for the fans!”

A third fumed: “Today is the last chance to try for tickets and since 20 minutes on three different devices and four browsers, I’m shown invisible captchas.”

And a fourth joked: “Currently 500,000 people in the queue with me. Don’t think my chances of a Euro 2024 ticket are very high.”

SPORTbible has contacted UEFA for comment about the technical issues.

Germany face Scotland in the first match of Euro 2024, which takes place at the Allianz Arena in Munich on June 14.

England, meanwhile, have been drawn in Group C alongside Slovenia, Denmark and Serbia, with Gareth Southgate’s side looking to go one better than their Euro 2020 runners-up spot.

Scotland’s group, meanwhile, also contains Hungary and Switzerland alongside hosts Germany, with a total of 16 teams from the original 24 qualifying for the knockout stages.
