A former member of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume has mourned a former member of the House of Representatives, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, describing his exit as a monumental loss to Delta State in particular and Nigeria in general.

Araraume, who, together with Ojougboh and many other associates, shared a special relationship with the late political gladiator, Chief Tony Anenih, said the death of Ojougboh was so sudden and profoundly shocking.

He said the Delta-born medical doctor-turned politician contributed immensely to national development while in the House of Representatives and as Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources.

Araraume stated that Ojougboh’s death had created a void in Ika kingdom where the late Ojougboh demonstrated care for his people through his politics and philantropy.

Araraume commiserated with Ojougboh’s family, the government and people of Delta State, Agbor town in Ika Local Government of the State on the passing of the former Execitive Director, Projects at the Niger Delta Development Commission [NDDC].

He prayed that God would grant the soul of Cairo eternal rest and the immediate family members the fortitude to bear his irreparable loss.

Recall that Ojougboh had slumped and died on Wednesday night while watching the pulsating AFCON’s Semi Final match between Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

The fatal development reportedly happened at 88th minute when the referee awarded a penalty against Nigeria, a decision that got Nigerians exasperated, including Ojougboh.
