By Jacob Kubeka (ABUJA) –
Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, University of Abuja, Professor Ukertor Gabriel Moti, has expressed confidence that Senator George Akume, a former governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties & Inter-Governmental Affairs, would not disappoint Nigerians in his new position as the 21st Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
In a congratulatory message to the new SGF, who was inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, Prof Moti noted that Senator Akume’s past experience in politics and governance had placed him in a position to do well in office.
Moti, an internationally renowned Professor of Public Sector Management and Governance, who once worked with Akume in the Government House Makurdi, said the people of the North Central geo-political zone were honoured to have George Akume oversee the massive administrative machinery of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The Public Sector and Governance expert called on the new SGF to ensure effective coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of government policies for the benefit of the people as this has been a recurring challenge of past administrations in Nigeria.
Prof Moti, while wishing Senator Akume good health and sound mind for the enormous tasks ahead, also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the honour done to Benue State and indeed the North-Central zone.
Professor Moti has been an active participant in various international conferences and an active member of the Kenya-based continental Public Administration forum, African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM), where he serves as the Chief Editor of the African Journal of Public Administration and Management (AJPAM), a continental journal of the association.
