[PHOTOS]: Two killed as vehicle plunges into Bauchi River

The Federal Road Safety Corp, Bauchi State Command, has confirmed that a vehicle plunged into a river on Sunday morning along Darazo-Dukku road, killing two passengers.

The Sector Commander, FRSC, Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, who made the confirmation to our correspondent, said that two other people sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The crash is coming few days after three people were killed in the fatal crash that occurred at Dungulbi village close to the Muslim burial ground site, about 10 kilometers away from Bauchi Metropolis.

The crash involved two vehicles, a Station Wagon Opel vectra with number plate: DSA-120 AA and a Toyota Hiace commercial bus, Gombe Mass Transit with number plate: GME-74 YX.

Speaking on the Sunday incident, the Sector Commander said that the crash was caused by speed violation, adding that the crash occured at about 9.08am.

“The crash happened on Gombe Abba bridge on Darazo – Dukku highway, 32 kilometers away from the FRSC Darazo office.

“The crash involved a private 406 Peugeot with Registration number: 06H-04NS. The crash which was caused by speed violation involved four people.

“The driver lost control and plunged into the river. Two people were killed while the remaining two were injured,” he said.

Abdullahi added that: “The trapped victims and the vehicle were finally removed and taken to the General Hospital, Dukku, Gombe state for confirmation at about 4.11pm, today 26th September, 2021.

“Two of them were confirmed dead by a medical doctor at the hospital.”
