2023: INEC begins distribution of sensitive materials in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Independent National Electoral Commission has began the distribution of sensitive materials for the Saturday 25th general election, assuring that the exercise will commence simultaneously across all polling units in the state.

Addressing newsmen shortly after inspecting the materials which comprises of ballot papers and result sheets amongst others, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Dr Nura Ali assured that the Commision is ready for a free, fair and credible election.

Dr Nura who affirmed that representative of all the political parties were equally invited to monitor to the exercise, further added that, they will scrutinize the ballot papers and result sheets before distributing them to the various local governments in an alphabetical order.

He noted that adequate security would be provided by various security agencies during and after the election .

Giving his assessment of the development, Sokoto State Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), Hon. Abba Sidi said they are satisfied with he whole process, adding it is transparent enough.

He however appealed to the electoral umpires and all other staff likely to be involved to be fair to all in the discharge of their national assignment by not disenfranchising anybody or group of people.
